A Visit to Idaho Showcases McCammon and Pocatello Growth

The Editor spent days in Idaho visiting McCammon Pocatello and Lava Hot Springs. He notes rapid growth in Pocatello with 100 new houses under construction and Oregon Short Line railroad upgrades employing over 1000 workers. A $100000 new post office, a $100000 apartment building, a $2 million depot project and a $10000 bath house signal strong town expansion. Hot water wells and new bath facilities attract visitors, while plans for a municipal water system and a larger hotel loom as McCammon and the rail yard footprint expand.

Charley Rathbun Sets Local Auto Travel Record

Charley Rathbun becomes the first to drive from Opal to Piney by auto, carrying five passengers. He reports improving roads and notes other autos have recently used the route. Wittow creek canyon road from Kemmerer sees team travel, expected to open to cars soon. The Kemmerer Opal link is in fairly good condition.

Beautification plans for cottages under review

Fences will be run between yards and trees planted to beautify. Houses are to be repainted this year and next year an extra room will be added to each smaller cottage to modernize them.

The Kemmerer lodge Loyal Order of Moose kept open house last Wednesday with invited guests. A public installation of officers preceded a fine program and a social after a large feast. Shorty Snyder Returns From Sheep Camp Near Linwood

Shorty Snyder, with a broad smile and a single pocket item, arrived in Kemmerer on Thursday after wintering with sheep near Linwood. He promised to behave and lingered. He reports the flock en route to lambing grounds near Cumberland. Joe Smith crossed three bands at Carter. Standard Meat and Live Stock Co. and Dan Mackey outfits were near Carter. Shorty appears to have fared well during the winter.

Mrs Bridges Visits Kemmerer Family Friend From New Jersey

From New Jersey Mrs Mary E Bridges of Orange arrived last week and is visiting at the K K Curtis home in Kemmerer. An old schoolmate and lifelong friend of the family, she will probably stay until June and visit Ramsfork ranch where the Curtis family plans to spend part of the summer.

Movement to open Crow Reservation for settlement gains steam

Billings Montana and Sheridan Wyoming residents launch effort to have the U S government open the unallotted Crow Indian reservation to settlement. The plan began last week with confidence of success led by John B Kendrick of Sheridan who may travel to Washington to press Congress. If opened, 1 500 000 acres would become available for cultivation with ample climate water and transport facilities.
