October term court trials yield few civil cases

The October term of court reports many criminal verdicts with few civil filings. David E. Wingett pled guilty to malicious mischief, fined $25 and costs, unpaid, now jailed. Gener al W Masters case on adultery continued. Cy Adams found not guilty of assault with a dangerous weapon. Lloyd Pifer acquitted in grand larceny tied to a livery team. Fifteen-year-old defendant claimed misdirection of a team to buffalo pasture. jurors listed. Albert Hanson found guilty of simple assault with a 30-day jail and $100 fine. stay granted and appeal planned. Wiltse acquitted of grand larceny after branding incident. Bower vs Jones verdict for defendants. Hamlin case involved shooting steer. both ranchers listed. case concluded.

Youth's Companion offers long winter readings and subscription offer

The Youths Companion promises near one hundred long stories and many serials and sketches for winter readers and urges subscriptions at $1.75 to receive all remaining 1909 issues and a 1910 calendar. The notice also lists teachers exams for first to third grade certificates at Ft Pierre on November 11 and 12, supervised by Grace A. Reed, Co Supt.

Busy Creek Notes and Local Farming Update

Mrs. Petty visited Mrs. Peter Larsen Sunday while Ed Collins and Dave Sigler exchanged calls. Hughes Brothers threshing aided Ed Collins and C. R. Steele this week. Frank Young injured his hand with a nail. Corn husking continues with good quality but below average yield. School starts November 8 instead of the 1st due to late furniture arrivals.
