Heavy rains with hail and thunderstorms struck Green Garden causing light damage and knocked out telephone service. William Moss, long time Plainfield resident, died at his home on Ottawa Street Sunday evening at 7 30 after a prolonged illness. He was a respected local figure and a biographical notice will be published in a future issue.

Mr and Mrs William Cochrane mark their fiftieth anniversary noting a June 8 1855 Scotland wedding. They migrated from Scotland to America settling in Illinois after early hardship and raising seven children with thirteen grandchildren and three great grandchildren. The couple attend United Presbyterian faith and remain in good health with only minor injuries mentioned.
Last Wednesday Mr. Gross, brother of the current principal of schools, agreed to teach here next term. He visited town, rented a house from Folkes pera John Wilson, a Frankfort resident of several years, who was ill last Saturday and moved to Sir Joseph's hospital, Jolinton, on Wednesday. John Staff spent his vacation fishing and helping lay a cement walk. About 60 members of Frankfort Camp No. 814 MW A attended the funeral of neighbor Jacob Zibn at Monee last Sunday.
Tinley Park Greys were defeated 12 to 8 by the Morris Reds on swampy grounds with ankle deep water. Crowd of five thousand watched as fielders and shorers struggled. the team seeks a return game on dry, clean fields.
The Ladies’ Aid society hosted a well attended social at Chas Morse home despite cold. Attendees enjoyed strawberries ice cream and cake. Belle Yeates plans piano lessons again after buying a new piano. Mrs Doty celebrated 68th birthday with neighbors delivering good wishes. A James Cooper dance drew a large crowd with a bountiful supper. Ruth Swords returned from Chicago. Miss Coyle staying at Custer Park hotel. James Cutshaw mourns a lost horse. Children’s Day at Custer Park Baptist Church set for Sunday morning June 11.
Earl Jewell of Joliet visited Blodgett with relatives last Sunday. James and George Craig, from Champaign, Illinois, are spending vacation with their parents there. Mr. Roa and family visit Adam Skekton. The Jackson baseball club defeated the Blodgett club 6 to 4 in a close game last Sunday.
John Peterson, living on the Oain farm, learned of his brother James Peterson’s death by drowning at Morris. James, 80, a bridge carpenter, was pulled from the J. and M. canal near the aqueduct after going into the water with cramp while bathing with co workers. The coroner and many locals searched after he vanished, finding the body a short distance away. Peterson had been unable to swim and had come from Denmark three years earlier.
A lengthy period of service in Mexico preceded the contractor's arrival in Morris to assist in building the new pumping station erected by the Rock Island.
Liverpool wheat and corn prices fluctuated through the day with wheat rising and corn mixed. Hogs cattle and sheep led Chicago markets with hogs soft and cattle steady while general weather outlooks showed cooler northwest and warmer south regions.

Mrs George M Schick and her young daughter Erdine of Sour Lake Texas, who had been visiting at the home of Mr Jacob Schick, departed last week for Guilford Indiana to visit Mrs Schick's parents Mr and Mrs Amos Lidale. A lost crocheted shawl and cashmere shawl were reported on the road north of Mokena May 2, and a finder is asked to leave them at Mrs dM Ziho Mokena.
