The Joliet city schools board approved a fixed salary plan for the coming year based on experience, training, and outside teaching credits. Regular teachers receive incremental raises up to 500 annually, with principals and supervisors granted specific increases, totaling about 5300 in new payroll costs.
Petro Pietrolati, a Chicago Italian, died at Silver Cross hospital after injuries from attempting to board a mono freight train. He lost both legs above the knees and bled while unconscious at the right of way between Joliet and Plainfield. Two boys fled the scene. Pietrolati was transported to Joliet, then to a hospital, with another man injured.
The man, reportedly un married and in the city briefly from Chicago, died about four o'clock in the afternoon after receiving medical aid. Coroner Noel will hold an inquest over the body as rain fell and an ambulance conveyed him to the hospital.
Aurora plans a new interurban line with the Chicago and Southwestern Traction Company securing most right of way between Morris and Yorkville. Mrs Susan Eaton, mother of Mrs B A Fuller of East Henrietta Monroe County New York, died June 6 after a long illness from chronic heart disease following a severe winter grip that weakened her. She leaves husband two children Willard G Eaton and Niba A Titus. A lifelong Universalist she will be remembered by family and friends.
Police took charge of Mrs. John Haines found wandering in a sad condition on Cat Cage Street. Mrs. Haines, likely to be returned to the asylum, already claimed her husband provided only two loaves and did not work. He serves a six month sentence for failure to support. supervisor Herath backed the complaint amid reports of his hardships and concern for the two children.
