A senseless tale unfolds around a note written on a two dollar bill on Christmas Day 1967 by an educated Indian man. He planned to buy cyanide of potash and end his life in the Joliet woods after a betrayed romance. No body has been found, and authorities remain uncertain if the event occurred as described or if the body lies hidden in the Joliet forest.
Delegates Elias Brown S Spangler Thos Donavan W H Clare John R Cronin and E M Allen travel from local Democrats to Bloomington to meet William Jennings Bryan. The Bryan special left St. Louis this morning at 8:20 and stopped at Alton Carlinville Girard Virden Springfield Lincoln Bloomington Pontiac and Dwight. The train is due to arrive at 6:10 this evening.
The nineteenth precinct Republican club will hold a rally in Ridgewood at Jones' store corner Stirling Avenue and Walnut Street tomorrow night. State's Attorney Holse and Attorney W A Murphy will speak to attendees.
Dellwood band of twenty four pieces under Walter E West impressed locals and visiting Joliet Knights with concerts in Harper House lobby and Spencer Square. The Joliet band of about thirty played a concert in Harper House rotunda to enthusiastic applause.
In a morning meeting of the Board of Local Improvements William Moran was granted a $1000 installment for Franklin Street sewer work. The bond of sidewalk contractor Martin Johnson was approved. Mayor Cronin was absent and Superintendent John Friedrichs presided.
Telegraph Special from Dallas South Dakota reports the Tripp county Rosebud drawing starting at 10 o clock with few of the 33 000 registrants present. Ex congressman Cale of Alaska spoke briefly and Judge Witten announced the first name drawn May A Nelson of Lennebec Maine.
Alphonso Frato fell into an open sewer excavation on Jackson Street and broke his right leg. An ambulance took him to St. Joseph's Hospital, with responders reaching the scene at Collins and Jackson streets last night.

LS Schroeder of BISMARCK North Dakota fatally injured when struck by a Chicago car in Lockport Saturday night. Moon street scene details unclear but confirms fatality and location.
L. S. Schroeder of Bismark North Dakota died in St. Joseph's hospital Joliet after being run down by a Chicago car near the Eleventh street crossing in Lockport. He suffered brain injuries and died at two. An inquest was held by Coroner Noel and relatives were notified. The man had borrowed money here and elsewhere and was identified through his meal ticket.
Telegraph Special reports two railroad accidents on October 19. In Kansas City, J L Smith of Nevada Missouri was killed and six injured when a Troost Avenue streetcar on a hill lost control and crashed into its follower. In Newton, Atchison Topeka Santa Fe No 17 freight collision with a Chicago bound train killed the engineer and injured twenty five passengers.
Telegraph report from New York notes a baby is born every five minutes in Manhattan with 2150 births last week. Marriages in Greater New York fell by one third and personal crisis reports rose.
Police are asked to locate a bulletin board stolen Saturday night from in front of the Steel Works club. Boys are believed to have carried it away.
Talgott elected president of the Will County Bark Board of Directors as vacancy created by the death of Jacob Henry is filled. vice president elevated to presidency following Henry's passing months ago.
In Joliet Will County National Bank directors elected C. H. Talcott as president after the death of Jacob A. Henry. Dr J W Folk of the Henry family becomes vice president while H J Weber remains cashier. Talcott has served 25 years since joining as a bookkeeper and is seen as guiding the bank's affairs with no major changes expected.
The Women's Auxiliary of Christ Episcopal church meets tomorrow at 2 PM in Epiphany church Chicago. A luncheon is served at 1 PM in the Boys home opposite the church. Three will be present.
A court in Will County approved a negotiated settlement reducing the Sanitary District’s assessment by about one million dollars. Representative Neils Jull and County Treasurer August Ehrhardt exchanged funds as the order was signed, with officials calling the terms equitable for both the county and the district. The agreement followed lengthy review of costs and materials for the Lockport area and deep waterway plans.
Mrs Thomas Patton was seven p in police court this morning. He was fined three dollars and costs by the judge, suspended on condition to be good in the future. Pat was arrested last night with his wife who claimed that
