Kriminal Court Appearance Shows Nerve at arraignment

Karsha and Blouth appear in court at 9 this morning with little emotion while murderers remain future threats, a display described as having splendid nerve by observers.

Matthew Stakha and Anthony Blouth, accused of murder, highway robbery and burglary, appeared with counsel John W D Arcy in circuit court. No pleas entered. adjournment set for Wednesday at 9. State plans to press all six indictments or accept guilty pleas, with trial order to follow.

Fire Threat Hits William Dele Anty Home in High Wind

A barn roof collapse sparked by a passing blaze endangered William C Dele Anty's residence at 212 Collins Street. Fire crews from stations 4 3 and 4 under Chief Langdon extinguished the blaze before it reached the dwelling or horses, and the pavilion at Dellwood offered dancing tonight.

Long puzzles on affairs superintendent solves problems

Supt John A Long leaves for Peoria to attend the Illinois Schoolmasters Association meeting where a state board of education may be proposed. He also heads a committee aiding Gov Deneen’s study and plans for the Northern Illinois Teachers Association to be held in Joliet November 6 and 7 at the Auditorium with sectional meetings and tours of Central Roosevelt School.

Local unions announce Joliet will send a large delegation to the Western Catholic Union convention in East St Louis on October 21 and 22. Delegates seek high office and active participation in the event.

Twenty four Joliet delegates will travel October 20 to East St Louis for the Western Catholic Union convention on October 21 and 22. Joseph Braun seeks re election as supreme vice president with a chance to win another post. sixteen delegates come from St. Alois No. 21 with 728 members. The group travels via Chicago and Alton railroad and will attend opening sessions and officer elections followed by East St Louis social events.

Trustees Host Chicago Club Men Visit Lockport Tour

The Hamilton club of Chicago traveled by private steamer to Lockport to tour the Chicago Sanitary District works. Led by Guy Guernsey the party, including Trustees Clark Idelman and real estate agents Hoyt and King, dined aboard and visited the power plant and dredge aboard a train of eight dump cars. The boat departed Lockport at 4 p.m.

Breakwater Stones Sold for Gary Steel Plant

The United States Steel Gary breakwater will use stone from the sanitary district canal. The sale of 350000 tons of canal stone at 10 1b cents per cubic yard totals about 30000 dollars and must be removed within two years. Barges from Musky Que to Chicago will transport the rock to Gary.
