Ready 10 Pay Victims Relief Committee Disburses Funds

The relief committee approves $13,000 for flood victims in Joliet and surrounding districts. Of 400 families aided, districts 2 and 3 receive no explicit family counts, total city losses near $14,000 with bills pending. Checks to be issued soon, often to wives, after reviews by Col. Munroe party tours Rock Run on new launch Naandellil

Ed. S. Munroe and partners including W. C. Barber Nat Rowell and Fred C. Wilcox took the Naandellil gasoline launch on a Rock Run trip yesterday morning. The group left at nine and returned at 12:20 after viewing the park sights. Dinner followed at the Munroe residence.

Panama Route Amendment Wins Senate Passage

The bill directs the president to purchase Panama Canal Company property for up to 40 million dollars and secure a concession from Colombia. It authorizes a seven member commission including engineers and military officers to oversee canal construction with 130 million dollars in bonds to be issued, and 10 million dollars immediate treasury aid. If Panama route falters, the president may pursue the Nicaragua route to ensure a canal.

Joliet Chicago Electric Railroad Posts May Net 24782

The Joliet and Chicago Electric Railway reports May net earnings of 24782 with gross near 97701 for American Railways Company. General Manager Fisher challenges higher figures saying daily gross 150 to 600 dollars, costs 12 to 15 dollars per car, net profit under 25 percent. Service upgrades eyed and flood repairs continue.

Thirtieth District Nominates Tice and Backs Hopkins

In Havana yesterday the Thirtieth district Republican senatorial convention nominated Homer J. Tice for representative on the 150th ballot. A resolution instructed the nominee to vote for Hon. Albert J. Hopkins for U.S. senator and urged Senator Albertson to do the same. Indorsed were state and national administrations and Roosevelt’s Philippine policy. Account Derby with Santa Fe offers Chicago round trips at $1.00 on June 21 22 with return by June 22.
