Thousands of veterans from across Illinois attend the three day encampment in Dellwood park. Speakers include James Lewis and Howard M. Snapp as parades and ball games highlight the event. Joe Wheeler Camp No. 38 leads the arrangements with committees named for finance transportation and entertainment.

Danville Illinois makes a strong bid for the next annual state encampment of the Spanish American War Veterans. Gillispie commander and Fred M Jahnke adjutant arrived with invitations from Mayor Lewman, the city council and the Commercial club. They spotlight Danvilles National Soldiers Home parks railroad facilities and hotel accommodations. Other cities also seek to host the event.
Joseph Boyne and Arthur Layfield, members of Sweet's orchestra, survived the Joliet and Aurora Traction grade crossing disaster two weeks ago. Boyne faced possible blood poisoning from a head wound with swelling subsiding, while Layfield endures internal injuries but improves.
Joel D. Jones of Barrett Hardware Co. narrowly escaped death in the Barrett fire in April and today wed Mrs. Martha D. Barton at her Peotone home. The couple, longtime friends and well known, began a courtship during Jones’s hospitalization when Barton’s frequent bedside visits followed the blaze.

After a Monday morning burglary at Adioch Almanovitch's saloon in Rockdale, a man named Alanoviteh allegedly lost about 1,000 in a burglary. The crime wiped out the brewing concern's funds and left Almanovitch financially ruined.
