Campbell Powell Nuptials Report Quiet Home Ceremony

Miss Adaline Campbell and Prof. John Rush Powell wed at 8 last evening at 414 North Herkimer street. Rev. A. H. Laing officiated in a simple ceremony with immediate relatives present. The couple left for the south later and plan to be at home in August at 414 Herkimer street. Powell, a Joliet township high school faculty member, previously lived in Waco Texas. Guests included Mrs Powell of Waco and Chicago visitors.

Two Joliet Boys to Graduate From University of Michigan

Four Joliet and Plainfield students will receive diplomas at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. Robert Haley graduates from the law department, eldest son of ex Mayor P Haley. Fred Wilson, in engineering, has been an assistant instructor and entered with unusual credits. Edward Foster and Clyde Jump from Plainfield complete the medical and law courses respectively. Fred Harbaugh, a Joliet alumnus, distinguished himself in fencing.

Cora Boyne to Wed Walter W Wilson in June Ceremony

Miss Cora Josephine Boyne and Walter W. Wilson announce their wedding set for June 30 at the Boyne home 116 Lincoln Street. Miss Boyne directs art needlework at Miss McPartlin's parlors and is granddaughter of the late Col. John Strawn. Wilson, son of W. L. Wilson, works in railroad offices at Chicago Junction railway stock yards as chief clerk.

Miners Celebrate Eight Hour Day Anniversary in Coal City

About 3,000 Wilmington field miners gathered at Glacken's Grove in Coal City for a Labor Day commemoration four years after the eight hour day victory. Railroaders Picnic At Momence Draws Thousand From Two Lines

About 1 000 workers from the Elgin Joliet & Eastern and Chicago Lake Shore & Eastern railways plus a South Chicago delegation traveled by a special twelve coach train to Momence for the annual employes picnic. The day featured a ball game won by the E J E team and various athletic events, with families in attendance and Bennett's band providing music.

Federated Clubs Plan Kindergarten Work Initiative

The Federation of Women's Clubs discussed expanding kindergarten work and funding. A committee led by C Barber and Mrs FLK reported on program costs and location with September start proposed. If successful the effort aims to reach families lacking resources, with location to be decided near mills or community centers.
