Funeral in Lockport Follows Alleged Enmity Toward Professor Hooton

Lockport mourns Professor J K Hooton with a packed residence and mass flowers as a public funeral proceeds amid tears and notes of charity. Reed Township Republicans Back Snapp and Steen Candidacies

The Reed Township Republican club in Braidwood met at Music Hall in a large gathering. Members unanimously endorsed the Aurora congressional convention choice of Hon. Howard M. Snapp for congress and urged a record majority in the Eleventh district. They also endorsed John M. Steen for clerk of the probate court and urged placing him on the county ticket.

New Stock of Pianos At Flooded Store

Flood on June 3 left ten pianos submerged in twenty one inches of water for hours. Damaged instruments were disposed of and new styles arrive daily. Shop invites prospective buyers to inspect the fresh stock, including two pianos that survived the flood upstairs over the store.

New Leviathan Blast Furnace to Rise at Bloom Mill Site

Plans show a Leviathan blast furnace replacement for No 3 plant at Illinois Steel Western Mills. The upright engine and new house will house a giant machine to push overhaul work as three furnaces rise in capacity, with an engine for the billet department and shifting to a shiftable converter setup.
