J Stanley Brown Re elected Supt at Township Board Meeting

At the township high school board meeting J Stanley Brown was reelected superintendent and J F Skeel clerk. The board appointed teachers and employes for the year including C E Spicer and A E Arendt. Indicated plans include a ventilating system motor and possible independent lighting plant. Bond payments and payrolls were approved with a 60 000 debt outstanding. Commencement schedule announced for June many details given.

First Gar Toad Cement Arrives for Joliet Track

The first carload of cement for track elevation arrived in Joliet yesterday and is in waiting in the Michigan Central yards. It will be used once excavation progress allows starting the walls, likely some time next week. J. B. Berry and G. H. Webb, chief engineers from Chicago and Detroit, will visit Joliet before week’s end to review progress.

Local Option Law Upheld by Illinois Supreme Court

The Illinois Supreme Court denied a rehearing in People v. McBride, affirming the Local Option law as constitutional. The terse order stated rehearing denied. The report also notes dancing at Dellwood tonight.

A telegram to George A Ducker said the remains of his brother James W Ducker who died at Gold Hill North Carolina Tuesday morning were shipped last night and will reach Chicago Friday at 6 AM before being sent to this city. Funeral time not announced.

Jno Zimmerman sued for divorce had contempt proceedings dismissed after he provided a satisfactory explanation to Judge Dibellin regarding a late night remark to a woman he met on the street who proved to be his wife. Mrs Zimmerman’s motion for alimony and fees was taken under advisement.

Speed Launch Destroys Wisconsin Crew Shell

Madison June 4 Special to The Republican Eugene Dinet son of Mr and Mrs A E Dinet Joliet and Wisconsin State University crew members escaped death when the racing shell Forward was cut down by the speed launch Scully. Engine trouble caused the collision. the shell was wrecked and the crew may miss the Poughkeepsie regatta. The Budlong shell will be used as a slower substitute.

Work to Begin at Once on New Electric Line

Officials of the Chicago Joliet and Kansas City railway announce immediate start on their new line. Construction will begin in June with Joliet as the starting point and Rockford as the northern terminal. The route stays entirely in Illinois and will access Chicago via the Wabash and Iowa lines near the Mississippi.
