Petitions Filed Overnight Amid Court House Scramble

Springfield July 1 Special to The Republican About 200 candidates lined at the Secretary of State door when petitions opened at 9 am under the new primary law. Guy L Bish led with 47 petitions for filing including Richard Yates for Governor and Ira M Lish for Supreme Court. Governor Deneen claimed his petition was filed first, leading the Republican ticket.
