Matt Stakha 19 and Tony Blouth, Austrian-Americans, were captured after Beltzner’s 8 pm murder at 341 Hunter Avenue during an attempted robbery. Stakha confessed fully. Blouth refused to talk though police claim a complete case.
Amid rumors of Attorney General Stead's ruling candidates for county offices file corrected petitions. Smith leads recorder race if affidavits dated July 1 or later stand. Knapp likely last. Coroner slate tops Wunderlich Neel Higgins. other filings include Piepenbrink Zarley Martin Heise Hill and Mottinger as yet uncertain. A separate robbery case and coroner inquest proceed with a listed panel.

Anton Blouth and Mathew Stakha, accused of fatally shooting storekeeper August Baltzner during a daytime robbery, are linked to multiple stickups and car thefts. Witnesses, including Bert Davis and G. Force, named them. Stakha confessed while Blouth remained silent. Police trace revolvers to a North Collins dealer and car rigging to Chicago sources.
August Beltzner longtime mill man and local businessman died after a grocery store venture. He led Ashley wire mill Laidlaw unit and Rockdale American Steel and Wire duties, served in G A R and Masonic orders, helped St John English Lutheran church, and had eight children. Obsequies delayed for son Roy’s arrival from Wyoming.

George Princko once a gang leader had charges dismissed and faces county court action with possible transfer to St Charles. he remains jailed pending a new proceeding.
Police began dragging the Hutchins street area this afternoon to recover revolvers Starsha says he hurled into the stream after killing Beltz ner last night. If found, the tale surrounding Starsha’s actions would be fully corroborated.
Four boys were fined for their part in robbing a C. L. & E. freight car loaded with office supplies last week. The cases against three others were dismissed in Justice Court.
Samuel J. Drew of this city, Republican candidate for lieutenant governor, will speak at Morfield Grove in Saline County from July 27 to August 1 at one of the state’s largest soldiers’ reunions. Prominent speakers from across the state will attend, with Drew the sole lieutenant governor candidate on the program. An estimated thirty thousand people are expected.
Milk licenses become due again yesterday and liquidations for the coming year are being made by the dealers at the city clerk's office at the rate of five dollars per wagon. The greater part of licenses of other varieties were due June 1.
