Old Settlers Set Gathering Plans For Sept 12
The executive committee of the Old Settlers' Association of Will County met at the Commercial Club and outlined plans for the annual meeting on Saturday September 12 in the Auditorium Building at Clinton and Chicago streets. The morning program will include short papers by county officers and a necrology, with ten minute talks and musical numbers, followed by afternoon lectures and visiting. A prize will be awarded to the oldest settler in Will County present, and a nominating committee was named for the Union meeting.

Jury Blames Rock Island for Crossing Accident
A jury found Rock Island at fault for a fatal grade crossing crash near Scott and Jefferson streets that killed Patrick Dixon. Witnesses, including Engineer Ty Foster, detailed signals, gate failures, and a flagman’s diminished signal as the train stopped after braking.
Police Capture Notorious City Possum During Midnight Chase
In downtown Chicago Captain James Corcoran and Patrolman Michael Diamond pursued a possum up and down Mc Graws corners near Van Buren and Chicago streets. The captain struck with a club, the animal fell, and a shoe shiner offered two dollars for the carcass. The creature was prepared for a midnight feast at the police station, with Diamond lamenting his broken club and relief the animal was not a polecat.

Street Car Fender Crashes Motor Cyclist on Ottawa
Bert Delancy bicycle dealer on a fast motor cycle crashed after a Boulevard Heights street car turned north on Ottawa street failing to proceed straight on Jefferson street. The fender struck Delancy as he rode down Jefferson near Peas and Ottawa, injuring him as he was entering town around six o'clock. Conductor Shern and Motorman Jorgenson were reported involved.
