Story of New Orleans Jewish Orphans Home
The New Orleans Widows and Orphans Home expanded following 1875 talks with I O B B lodges. A new fund was created with 50 cent quarterly dues per member to support the Home, and amendments were adopted as part of a District Grand Lodge agreement. The Home marked its 21st anniversary in 1876 and pursued space expansion, purchasing adjacent property for up to 11,300 dollars.
