The town of Herman in Washington county Nebraska ten miles north of Blair was wrecked by a cyclone Wednesday evening. About 50 people were killed and over 100 seriously injured in the disaster.
Abstract of the 1899 assessment returns by the Jefferson county assessors. It lists total personal property value for the county at 898,502.00 and real estate values with acreage and subdivision totals, including railroads and telegraph lines. Pleasant precinct shows total personal property value 23,820.00 and village data for Diller with 302 lots and total value 7,627.00.
Mrs. McElwee and her son Don returned to Hardy yesterday. Cannon fire-crackers boomed as a show of patriotism. The Children's Day exercises at the Presbyterian church last Sunday morning drew a good crowd and delivered a solid program.

He will stand for the 1899 season at Yellow Front Breeding Stable in Diller Nebraska with insured foal options and colt warranty. Fees include 15 dollars to insure in foal 20 dollars for a living colt 12 dollars for the season and 8 dollars for a single leap with payment due March 1 1900 and conditions about mares leaving the country.
