Farmers warned that fires from locomotive engines burn shocked or stacked grain along Nebraska railroads. With a record grain crop and hot conditions, the notice urges immediate fire guard plowing along all farm edges adjoining the tracks and around every stack to prevent losses.

Pioneer Nebraskan Killed When Train Hits Auto

A. K. Moses of six miles west of Fairbury was killed at noon Tuesday when his car was hit by Rock Island train No. 306 at a crossing two miles west of Gladstone. A curve in the tracks hindered his view and the skull was crushed. He leaves an aged mother and several siblings near Fairbury.

Auto wreck near Meade reported with injuries

Meade County news recounts a Sunday auto collision eight miles north of Meade Kansas involving Mrs Peter Thiessen and her son in a Ford wrecked but occupants escaping with only severe shaking. Elsasser Reunion Brings 250 Relatives to Omaha Park

Nearly 250 Elsasser relatives gathered at Fimwood Park Omaha for a reunion. Four generations ranging from 3 weeks to 67 years enjoyed a day starting with morning activities for children followed by a 7 30 family dinner. Drought Cuts Local Wheat Yield Ahead of Harvest

Rain Eliot elected grand exalted ruler of Elks

Frank L. Rain of Fairbury won the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks national convention vote in Atlantic City against Albert Brophy by 1052 to 451. Rain, a 1906 member and former Fairbury lodge organizer, served on the grand lodge judiciary committee and chaired it in 1915 and the following two years. The region faces lower wheat yields but expects above average oat yields.

Railroads reject special one cent rate for farm labor movement

The Railroad Administration declined a proposal for a one cent a mile rate to move farm laborers to Kansas wheat fields during harvest. It offered to assist movement at normal fare with guarantees, and to operate special trains if needed, coordinating with Governor Allen of Kansas via Topeka.
