Mr. Adam Hohbein was found dead in bed at his northeast Jan gen area home after his wife called to him to cover the children. Dr Penner of Plymouth could not revive him. he had been dead several hours. An immigrant from Russia, he worked as a farmer near Jansen for years.
The Bureau outlines deductible farm expenses for income tax returns. Allowable items include labor for land preparation, crop cultivation and harvesting, seed and fertilizer costs, livestock care, feed, farm building repairs, and repairs to fences and machinery, plus small tools used up in a year or two. Machinery costs themselves aren’t deductible, but operating costs are.

Secretary McAdoo asks merchants to stop taking Liberty Loan Bonds in payment for goods. He argues such exchanges undermine bond sales by discouraging thrift and inflating current spending. Bonds received are often resold quickly, depressing market prices and harming future issues. The Treasury Department urges buyers to invest bonds rather than exchange them for merchandise.

Four fifths of Nebraska grain shipments from January 28 to March 2 must be soft corn with at least 20 percent moisture under a state railway commission order. The rule excludes Omaha Lincoln and Fremont and applies to cars headed to other states. penalties include a $100 to $1,000 fine for misallocation.

Hanford and his 15 year old son Paul died in their Fairbury home after a furnace draft clogged and gas filled the basement. Both men were overcome before firefighters could reach them. Physicians treated them until midnight. Hanford, a painter and paper hanger aged about 40, leaves a wife and seven children.
