Attendance for last Thursday's literary gathering surpassed the prior three weeks, filling every seat at Rex Hall. Vice President Murray presided after President Turner was absent, urging local efforts to build a community facility in Jansen during the coming summer.
Revival services begin at Jansen Methodist Church on Tuesday February 14 led by Pastor H Brown of Fairbury with gospel singing prayer and timelisted preaching. Sermons by Rev Miss Anna Nutter Rev Mr Leager and Rev W D Shelor cover Creation Fall Redemption making a choice the new birth the price of a soul God so loved and the great salvation. The series continues definite not set end date.

A large gathering of Jefferson County school boards and teachers met February 23 in the County Court Room to hear the new redistricting law and discuss the plan with the County Redistricting Committee. County Superintendent Abrams opened the session and introduced Mr. Stroyer of Richardson County who spoke in favor of consolidated rural schools. Opposition centered on the cost of such schools.
Last week Jansen Lumber Co bought a northwest quarter section from C. J. Friesen in Meade County for 27000 dollars. H A Thiessen sold a northeast quarter near Jansen to Mrs. Fred Christ. W Martens sold a 160 acre farm northeast of Jansen to John Koenig for 225 dollars an acre. Mr. Martin reportedly bought a farm in Iowa for 350 dollars an acre. Jacob Brandt purchased the Thiessen farm two miles east of Jansen, previously owned by Rev. Jacob Fast. Brandts will take possession March 1. The 160 acre Brandt price is said to be noted. this was Brandt’s first home in America, coming with his uncle Jacob Fast in 1874 to settle on this site.
A newspaper survey shows California will likely harvest smaller crops this year due to farm labor shortages and rising wages. Some lands may lie fallow or shift to forage crops that rely on machinery, with beet sugar production also impacted nationwide. A memorial service in Fairbury honored local soldiers who died in the late war. certificates from the French government were given to relatives.
Friesens of Fairbury moved into the Barkman house while Albert Buller began clerking for John A. Thiessen. The Barkmans will relocate to Clay Center Kansas with household goods moved by motor truck. Several locals visit Lincoln Hillsboro and Harbine while Brandt recovers from hospital stays in Hillsboro.
Senator Grenna of North Dakota reports favorably the Kendrick Kenyon bill as redrafted by the Agriculture Committee. It proposes a Federal Live Stock Commission to supervise packers markets and agencies and bans anti competitive actions. Packers would relinquish stock yard interests within two years after final passage.
Conference leaders propose passage of a bill to sell Camp Taylor Kentucky by June 30 1921 and to dispose of Camp Gordon Georgia and Camp Eustus Virginia on later dates along with fulfillment of wartime contracts for military posts.
A defense attorney pressed a colored witness in a Marion County juvenile court, attempting to discredit his testimony. The state attorney allowed the question but urged the jury not to hold past defense actions against the witness.
The National Farmers' Union plans a clear platform for the campaign. President C S Barrbt of Georgia says the committee will demand explicit positions from each candidate on agriculture and assess ability to fulfill pre election promises, backing a strong faithful leader.
Sherman J. Lowell of the National Grange warns that recovery demands actual work, thrift, and sane economic practice. He criticizes complaints without cooperation and says failing to adjust could cement high living costs and a new economic basis.
