The August Bleich family and sons now farm about 920 acres near Jansen after adding the Grebe farm and rented lands. The operation includes holdings once from J. E trebe place and others, totaling close to 900 acres this season. Neighboring residents like Henry Achtemeier and visitors such as N. H. Wall and the Wiegards are noted in local notes.
A telegram from Meade Kansas announced Abr. R. Friesen died in the Meade vicinity on Tuesday morning. Klaas R. Friesen left for Meade Tuesday evening to attend the funeral of his brother Abr. R. Friesen.

The sale of thorghred hogs at Earl Babcock’s place last Friday yielded satisfactory results for the hog herd owner. Mr. Beck was well paid and plans future efforts in this enterprise as buyers paid for pedigreed stock. The average price for 10 hogs was 42.50 with a top bid of 104.00 for a lone sow. Babcock printed an attractive catalogue detailing the pedigree and registration of the animals offered.

Wm. Fiene, longtime resident on the old Fienie homestead, plans to quit farming and pursue a pump and windmill business in Jansen. He has rented his farm and will hold a public sale on February 27 1917, with a full list of auction items printed in this issue. Fiene, born and raised on the farm, is well known locally and expects to secure most pump and windmill work in the area.
