Two Speeches by Overset Heard in East End and Tuxedo
In East End an audience of about 900 heard Representative Overstreet speak for an hour on campaign issues. He then addressed a larger crowd at Goham's Hall in Tuxedo, with W. P. Reagan and Crate D. Bowen also speaking. H. H. Lee Jr. spoke between Overstreet and Reagan at Gilham's Hall. Overstreet argued Democrats harmed the treasury, contrasted with Republican surplus in 1854 and 1896–1902 trade gains, and critiqued free trade as a cure for trusts.
