Simpson Case Mystery Faces Police Court Hearing
Arthur J. Simpson, charged with forgery, will have his case heard in Police Court next Thursday. The affair has drawn wide attention as friends defend his innocence and offer help while firm members and detectives keep much secrecy about the matter. Reports say Simpson may have benefited from a wheat deal in which Enoch Arman of the firm had an interest, with initial losses of about fifty dollars rising to three hundred ninety. He asserts authority to sign drafts and says he did not forge the signatures or profit from the drafts, which the bank books record as usual deposits. The case and Simpson’s alleged link to the disappearance of Charles F. Haynes were widely debated at ReEATATOR, the center of discussion on the arrest and charges.
