The prince was lavishly entertained with a hotel breakfast and a concert by the Arion Singing Society of Brooklyn. A luncheon at the University Club hosted the presidential committee as it entertained its royal guest, followed by dinner with Mr and Mrs Cornelius Vanderbilt and meetings with prominent American aristocrats.
New York March 9 Prince Henry of Prussia dominated a day of festivities. He attended a Waldorf Hotel concert by the Arion Society of Brooklyn, dined with Cornelius Vanderbilt, and met prominent guests before an informal reception at the New York Yacht Club. A luncheon at the University Club followed, hosted by Roosevelt committee members, then a Vanderbilt dinner with top guests and an orchestra.
The prince plans to unveil a commemorative tablet aboard the American liner St. Paul next Tuesday if possible. He may sail home that afternoon and promises to visit Philadelphia to morrow. He will be officially received, shown Cramps shipyard, and hosted at the Pioneers Club luncheon before returning to New York for a farewell dinner.
Col. James Forney to preside at a court martial in Manila on March 17 to try Major Littleton W. T. Waller and Lieut. John H. A. Day of the Marine Corps on charges of executing three native stevedores in Bazey Samar without trial. The case stems from a December interior expedition. In Denver nine year old Stewart Hill died from a bullet wound sustained during a mock Indian battle. James Butson, twelve, is under arrest for murder after a volley of about thirty shots from barricaded positions. Police plan action against those responsible for arming the children.
William Clayton a contracting painter is found murdered in Richmond Virginia. He was beaten on a street near the residence area and dies after a night of unconsciousness. He leaves three daughters and two sons. The case echoes the earlier Scott murder in nearby years. The investigation remains unsolved.
Macon Ga March 9 Assistant District Attorney Ackerman says attorneys for Captain B D Greene and John F Gaynor charged with conspiracy to rob the government are greatly mortified by the disappearance of their clients and have no advice on their whereabouts. He notes officers fear no safe hiding place since nations without extradition pacts would likely surrender them on grounds of comity.
Signor Marconi arrived in Montreal on March 4 en route to Ottawa. He plans to depart for Sidney next week after arranging with the Canadian government and local firms for the equipment needed for his radio station.
Cynard liner Etruria anchored at Horta Azores after breaking off rudder and carrying away propeller while returning from New York. A swift rescue by William Cliff, Ottawa, and tugs followed. Crew rigged jury rudders, passengers unalarmingly awaiting Elbe to carry them home. Sardegna aided briefly before continuing.
A group of notable State citizens passed through the city tonight en route to Charleston. They arrived by a special Nashville, Chattanooga & St. Louis Railroad train at 12 o'clock and departed for Charleston at 12:30.

A steamer anchored near Part Ridge Island in St John New Brunswick tonight. It is thought to be the Allan Maer Huronian, overdue since leaving Glasgow February 11 for this port, but no definite information could be obtained at once.
Governor Richard Yates of Illinois travels with about eighty officials and citizens to the South Carolina Interstate and West Indies Exposition in Charleston. The party, on a special train, will stop about three hours in Chattanooga and may visit Chickamauga and Lookout Mountain before continuing to Atlanta and Charleston. They will stay in Charleston for two days, then return via Washington with a one day stop before home.
Governor Richard Yates of Illinois and entourage arrived in Chattanooga and rode to Lookout Mountain where they spent three hours. Mrs. Yates fainted briefly but recovered. The party marveled at the scenery and planned to proceed to Atlanta later that evening with state officials and staff.

In Constantinople March 9 the American legation delivered a second note to the Porte regarding the capture of Miss Ellen M Stone. It argues the brigand raid and ransom occurred within Turkish territory and calls for punishment of the guilty. The Porte previously repudiated responsibility in the matter.
General Chakir Pacha, brother of the late grand vizier, and the officers arrested with him in Constantinople have been liberated by order of the Sultan.
