City limits set for interurban system and freight halt
The Board of Public Works fixed June 18 for a conference on terminal questions with interurban companies. A new standard franchise will bar cars not signed in, affecting Greenwood and Greenwood lines. The plan aims to stop street loading of freight and establish terminals, with the Green Field routes possibly challenging the move in court. Mayor Bockwalter vows to curb freight on streets, citing a half‑million city loan to keep freight out of the city. A separate domestic incident notes a man’s death after heavy drinking and a pistol found in his hand, with his wife and children in the household.
