London dispatch notes King Edward’s coronation moves forward with doctors initially cautious but now endorsing an early date. The king remains at Buckingham Palace, possibly cruising aboard his yacht, while courtiers discuss imperial conferences and potential reform of colonial trade.
The battleship Illinois under Admiral Crowninshield will depart Gravesend on Friday with destination reported as St Petersburg. The ship has drawn crowds along the Thames with thousands viewing the latest American naval power as all steamers saluted and the public paid homage to the American flag.
Bulletin from Charing Cross Hospital at 11:30 a m reports Mr Joseph Chamberlain progressing well and sleeping well with absolute quiet needed. Austen Chamberlain says progress is satisfactory and expects his father may leave the hospital tomorrow.
In St James's Palace the Prince and Princess of Wales gave a dinner this evening to the colonial premiers and their ladies. Mr Chamberlain could not attend but Mrs Chamberlain was present. St James's was handsomely decorated and the dinner was described as pleasant and informal.
In the House of Lords Lord Brassey urged subsidy policy align with other nations while warning Britain must not abandon its mercantile marine. Lord Selbourne spoke on the Atlantic shipping combine, noting Britain should avoid losing trade to Americans yet avoid an implied British monopoly. The debate centered on naval subsidies, competition with the American fleet, and national interest in Atlantic trade.
In Parliament Mr Reynolds said J Pierpont Morgan offered to place all British ships in a new combine for fifty years on certain terms. The offer, tied to Atlantic trade, has not been accepted as the government weighs the overall shipping position.

The United States aims to finalize a treaty with Colombia to secure a right of way for the isthmian canal. Secretary Hay has prepared a protocol for formal signing by accredited Colombian and American representatives to present to the Senate. Modifications will be sought to overcome Senate objections while maintaining the old French-material requirement for the canal and an assurance from France.

Burgess nominated for supreme judge. Convention endorses 1900 Kansas City platform principles, clears rest of state ticket to be named soon.
A plan to aid striking miners is formulated by Harry White of the Garment Workers, approved by Samuel Gompers and accepted by Mitchell. The proposal aims to appeal nationwide to garner support for miners' strike action.
Wilkesbarre July 8 a national defense fund is proposed to aid striking miners through labor and public contributions. Harry White, secretary of the National Garment Workers, met with President Mitchell who approved the plan, to be used only after miners exhaust their resources. Gompers also endorses the effort contingent on Indianapolis convention votes against a general strike.
Edward Mal foy John Hadock and Stephen Droskick of Oneida were arrested and placed under bail on conspiracy charges filed by Coxe Bros and Co The arrests stem from a boycott against nonunion workers at Sheppton and Oneida
The Credentials committee of the United Mine Workers will meet in Indianapolis tomorrow to begin the canvass of the credentials of the delegates to the special convention that is to be held here on the seventeenth to decide the question of a general strike in the bituminous coal regions. More than 0 credentials have arrived and the indications are that fully 1,000 delegates will be present.
A premature dynamite blast at a slag dump near Duquesne Pennsylvania today killed 28 year old George Dezura and seriously burned four other workers. Foreman James Clemming and three other men John Corlars Vincent Archer Michael Skellish were injured. Authorities believe heat from the slag triggered the explosion.
Mayor Morse vetoed the council's acceptance of a gift from Mrs. Carrie S. Plumb of a site with plans for Emporia's new Carnegie library worth 20 dollars. The council had accepted the offer by a 5 to 2 vote, saying the location was near Mrs. Plumb's residence, while some councilmen plan to attempt to override the veto with an ordinance.
A joint committee from the University of Indianapolis Board of Trade Commercial Club and Winona Agricultural and Technical School met at the Commercial Club to discuss subscriptions and plans to buy the arsenal grounds for a technical institute. A. C. Harris opened the meeting outlining the opportunity, with Rev. S. C. Dickey detailing the school’s aims and assurances of operation by September and funding for ten years, including $25,000 yearly salaries and $100,000 in first-year building, dormitory, and equipment costs.

Seattle reports Harry Tracy at Gerald's ranch below Benton on Cedar Mountain road. A 17 year old boy delivered two stolen watches to the sheriff, claiming Tracy sent him to sell them. Tracy fled Benton before deputies arrived while bloodhounds pursue.
William Mahan and Charles Blauer, prominent Sweet Springs farmers in Monroe County, both killed themselves after threatening self harm. Neighbors found Mahan with rifle, Blauer with a breech loading shotgun. both men aged forty two. Relatives had been watching them closely after threats.
Captain McDonald of the American schooner Mary Sanford tells of mutiny and murder during a Nicaragua voyage. First mate A G Nicholson killed Fred Reed, a West Indian seaman, after a dispute over duty. Reed’s mates threatened to hang Nicholson as the vessel neared Blowfields. The white crew limited the threat and conserved order aboard the ship.
