Revenue offices extended hours to process stamps and returned roughly 250000 dollars of war tax stamps. A new oleomargarine tax of one quarter cent on uncolored and ten cents per pound on colored oleomargarine takes effect.
State Statistician reports heavy damage across northern Indiana as record rains raise floodwaters. Wabash and other streams overflow, bridges are destroyed, crops submerged, and two young girls drown attempting to cross flooded fields. Losses extend to railroad lines and farm property, with estimates around 1 million dollars.
