Wounded burglar shot at by Mrs Wilson on West Michigan Street
Mrs. Robert Wilson, wife of a railroad man, fired at a burglar who entered her home at 008 West Michigan Street at 3:30 AM. After the man rifled the dresser and drew near her bed, she shot through the door and again at the porch, driving him to flee across a field before disappearing beyond the fence. Patrolmen and a passerby pursued but did not capture him. The intruder, described as white, about 5 feet 7 inches, slender, wearing a turned-inside-out coat, had used a skeleton key to gain entrance. This was the second attempt in weeks, with the burglar believed to be a repeat offender familiar with Mr. Wilson’s habits.

Bartlett Seeks Trust Fight Funds Amid Congressional Scramble
In a tense session over minor appropriation bills, Democrat Bartlett of Georgia proposed a 100000 dollar amendment to combat trusts. Hepburn offered a substitute resolution, which passed, effectively sidelining Bartlett’s motion though it remained technically out of order. The minority’s leverage was shown as they ticked off issues, while Representative Miers inquired about ex-Sheriff Dudley's reinstatement plea and Governor Durbin's decision.

Republican State Chairman Goodrich’s unintentional aid to Democrats
A humorous tale centers on Republican State Chairman Goodrich who inadvertently signaled Democrats during the campaign by urging holdover Republican state senators to avoid holding other offices or notary jobs to preserve eligibility. A letter reached Senator Fleming of Fort Wayne, who alerted Democrats nationwide and helped uncover that Somers held another disqualifying office. Fleming thanked Goodrich, noting the outcome could have spared Senator Singer from similar scrutiny. Meanwhile, Kitlinger’s caucus bid appears uncertain as Dausman presses ahead. Beveridge returns home for Christmas.
