A St Louis syndicate led by August Busch Henry Grenner and Herman Sctieffel formed the National Oil Company with 150000 capital and hold options on 750000 dollars worth of producing oil territory in Indiana. They closed a deal paying 125000 for 500 Crown Oil Company acres in Grant County Center Township east of Marion. Crown’s field includes 20 barrels daily oil wells and 12000 feet monthly gas supply valued by gas mains included in Marion Gas Company.
Large transfer involves the Grant and Wabash Company and the Marion Gas Company with plans by Mr. Barnsdale to exhaust gas supplies and then explore for oil. Hector M. Gilchrist confirms the sale and notes Marion will retain a domestic gas supply for years, mostly casing head gas, while cold weather can collapse wells.
