Parry Opposes Eight Hour Day Law for Government Contracts
D M Parry president of the National Association of Manufacturers and Parry Manufacture Company of this city denounces a proposed eight hour day law for all government contracts. He argues the plan would curtail manufacturing efficiency, threaten exports, and strip employers of control over work and operations. He cites constitutional concerns and predicts widespread layoffs and difficulties in subcontracts if enforced. Parry endorses letters to senators urging defeat and asserts the measure harms manufacturers and workers alike.
