Prospects for Tinplate Taxes At Indiana Board Hearing
The State Board of Tax Commissioners heard appeals including Berthold Goldsmith of the American Tin Plate Company seeking a tax reduction for the Elwood Anderson and Lapel Railroad. He argued the tin plate business prospects are weak and temporary wage cuts could enable a big Standard Oil contract abroad. The hearing covered multiple railroad and telecommunication assessments with the board planning a busy day as Standard Oil, Clover Leaf Railroad, and Grand Trunk lines were expected to appear.
