German army veterans to meet in Terre Haute next year

Assault on a Street Car in Amsterdam Avenue

Simeon B. Carey senior member of Layman and Carey hardware on South Meridian Street died at 615 North Pennsylvania at age seventy nine after four weeks of illness. Born December 22 1822 in Shelby County Ohio he led a hard early life then built a long Indianapolis hardware career with his son Samuel Carey and with Theodore Layman. He led a storied life from Sidney Ohio to California overland to New York and finally Indianapolis where he started the firm. Funeral services set for tomorrow at 2 PM with burial at Crown Hill. he leaves son Samuel Carey and daughter Mrs Jennie Brumback of Toledo.

In Wausau Wisconsin on August 5 a seven year old boy playing with a supposedly unloaded rifle fired it. The bullet struck his sister severing half her arm and passed through his two year old brother’s ankle forcing doctors to amputate his foot.
