A nostalgic reminiscence of Harrison recalling Fischer and Loos businesses since the 1800s, the Mystic Theatre, the Greek restaurant era, the Dog Track, river history, and local landmarks. It invites longtime residents to share memories of World War II and earlier community life.
The Kool Ghoul will judge entries at 1 p.m. with the parade starting at 2 p.m. The reviewing stand is in the Park at Hill and Park Streets during the Big Century and Silver Parade Committee event in Harrison. Fans are invited to meet the Kool Ghoul and join the birthday party festivities.
Voters may register at the Village Municipal Building 200 Harrison Ave on Monday evening Sept 29 from 6 30 to 9 00 pm and Saturday Oct 4 from 12 00 to 4 00 pm This special registration helps those who missed regular hours Registration must be completed before Oct 6 to vote in the November 4 election.
The Century and Silver Committee has spent many hours planning activities to mark a birthday for Harrison. The event aims to honor the individual with a series of gatherings and celebratory moments.
Century and Silver present WLW personality Rob Reider on stage in downtown Harrison on Friday September 26 at 8 30 p m. Reider grew up in Columbus Ohio and has appeared with the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra and on Avco broadcasts and local TV programs.
The Harrison community is invited to welcome Rev. Carpenter and his family at a Sunday installation service on September 28, 1975 at 3:00 p.m. in the church fellowship hall, with a 4:00 p.m. reception. Carpenter served as interim pastor from 1974 to 1975 and has prior military chaplain service in Vietnam.
Jon Rolfes age 18 and Kathy Metz age 20 were crowned King and Queen of the Century and Silver Celebration at Veterans Auditorium Harrison High School. Metz is daughter of Irvin Metz 521 Broadway and Rolfes son of Alfred Rolfes 310 Jefferson Street. Ceremony hosted by Clyde Campbell with Byron Rupp and Ann Woelfel in ceremonial roles.
A Southwest District school bus driven by Pansy Newman lost air brakes on September 22 at 3 00 p m. The bus veered onto 128 where a gravel truck carrying 15 tons of gravel struck it. Minor injuries. driver and three students treated and discharged. No citation issued. Local responders praised police and life squad for efficiency.
Fred Jacobs scored Wyoming's first two touchdowns including a 72 yard run as the Cowboys crushed Oak Hills 48 0. The Wildcats fell 14 7 to East Central and 47 0 to the Cowboys, whose speed and defense overwhelmed their opponents.
