Indiana Senate to hold short session on education and LMS review
State Senator Johnny Nugent outlines a one day session on November 22 and up to 29 days beginning January 4, 1984, focusing on education bills from the Sunset Committee, including kindergarten, testing, board reorganization, and teacher continuing education. The interim LMS study allows the Public Service Commission to develop alternatives to flat rate pricing. Indiana also enacts a child passenger restraint law taking effect January 1, 1984, requiring appropriate car seats or seat belts for children, with fines for violations. Nugent notes mixed views on the law but supports booster seats and urges citizen input by mail.
