The Jennings Bryan Yeager Post 199 American Legion selects three William Henry Harrison High School juniors to represent the community at the Buckeye Boys State statewide program. Chris Alden Joel Mondary and Andy St John will attend June 15 through 23 at Bowling Green State University.

At a Riverfront Stadium event in Harrison on May 21, the Lions Club awarded Bob Kuntz Lion of the Year for leading a six month drive to purchase an Amtrak passenger car for a club room and land-hunt plans. The Indiana and Ohio Railroad assisted by holding the car in Brookville.

Downtown Merchants Meet With City Officials
Downtown Harrison merchants met with Consultant William Korte and Mayor Harry Rolfes on Thursday May 23 to discuss reviving the downtown area. Suggestions included angular street parking one way Harrison Avenue a central town plaza and a farmers market. Council support was debated with Councilman James Dole noting merchants had been quiet about their needs and emphasizing costless options such as clearer parking signs and increased police foot patrols. Attendees listed include Jim Hickey and Rodney.

Summer Fun Starts June 17 for Ages 5 to 15
Summer Fun opens June 17 for all students ages 5 to 15 regardless of residence. The program features crafts on Mondays from 10 a.m. to noon on June 17 24 July 1 15 and sports on Wednesdays 10 a.m. to noon on June 19 26 July 3 10 17 at the community center. Participants will make wind chimes and sun catchers with friends.

Water service awaits more members for funding
According to Phil Dillen Berger, 140 people have signed up for water service while the FHA requires at least 360 members before releasing funds. A study team will assess the situation in Naegerong, Miamitown as the corporation has until July 1 to recruit the remaining members.
