Value Engineering Award Presented to ACT Owners at Fernald Plant
Glenn visits NLO Fernald plant to present the Value Engineering Award to ACT owners Bernie Espelage and Bob Smart with Jim Miller from the Defense Logistics Agency in attendance. Vishnuv Shahani could not attend. The award recognizes cost saving ideas for government contracts with ACT’s changes projected to save the Air Force over 50000 on the first contract. The Air Force shares first-year savings as royal ties, and ACT earns royalties on future use. plaques are reserved for savings of 25000 or more. ACT is a five-year-old firm doing Navy work and U.S. Composite Technology at 5591 Dry Fork Road.

Everybody Counts students explore disability lessons
The program at St. John's Week of February 25 uses hands on activities to show disabled experiences. Students across grades 1 through 8 try blindfolded tasks and handle aids like sign language and crutches. Volunteers with three hour trainings lead sessions and a follow up by disability speakers adds context. The effort, in its third year, aims to foster understanding and compassion among the eight grade cohorts. Meanwhile U.S. Senator John Glenn toured the NLO Fernald plant with Attorney General Anthony Celebrezze, proposing air radiation monitors for nearby communities as Fernald Shandon and Ross sites continue studies.

East Central Band Invited To Play At EPCOT Center
East Central High School Band travels to Florida for spring break invited to appear at EPCOT Center and Walt Disney World. They depart Sunday March 17 and reach The Court of Flags near Disney World. Activities include Sea World visit, pizza pool party, a 30 minute EPCOT Center concert, Center tour, beach day and barbecue, hotel dance, and a Wet N Wild visit Friday.

Police seize gun cache after arrest of escapees
Police arrested two escapees after a stash of firearms was found in a car. A shotgun was recovered and a search of the vehicle located three additional guns inside the trunk. Names and exact charges not disclosed.
