East Central defeated Greensburg 54 to 54 in a heated road clash to close the regular season at 15 wins and 4 losses. Players Scott Chapman Daryl Huber Kyle Frondorf and Mark Fette contributed scoring while EC coach Brunes drew a technical with 2:36 left in the third.
The Cincinnati Bengals will compete in a charity basketball game at East Central gym on Wednesday night March 9 against E C H S faculty. Eight of twenty Bengals players are listed for participation with a 5 minute warmup, four eight minute quarters and a 15 minute autograph session at halftime. Doors open 5 30 p m with 11th and 12th grade tournament at 6 and the main game at 7 30 p m Tickets cost 2 in advance or 3 at the door.
Harrison high school wrestlers traveled to Edgewood for the sectional tournament posting five district qualifiers and two alternates. Rod Fisher Tim Mathies earned runner up spots while Ray Fisher Strub and Tom Miller placed fourth. alternates Jeff Nagele and Dave Frye also qualified. Team member Jim Mcintosh, a 1982 state qualifier, was injured Friday and required surgery Monday.
The O H S A A Southwestern District AA wrestling sectionals at Edgewood High saw Harrison finish sixth led by Rod Fisher and Tim Matheis with second place at 98 and 105 pounds respectively. Seven Wildcats earned Dayton District slots, while injuries and setbacks, including Jim McIntosh shoulder injury, marred the team's closing week.
