Ground breaking ceremony attended by John E. Retzner and Larry Tucker marks construction of a new middle school. School officials announced aims to expand facilities, boost enrollment, and provide upgraded classrooms and athletic spaces for the district community.
Officials broke ground for a new sports complex as a public remark drew laughter with the line How much do you want me to dig The moment highlighted community support for the project and the bid to create athletic facilities and a venue for local events.
Stop-N-Go completed the acquisition of King Kwik last August and began remodeling all former King Kwik locations over the past five months. Sparky Anderson, noted as manager of the Detroit Tigers and former Cincinnati Reds skipper, is mentioned in connection with the transition.
Ceremonies marked Ada Acra daughter of Harrison and the late Dale Acra. A 1966 William Henry Harrison High School graduate, she attended a reception at D Russel Lee Vocational School for graduates and guests. A later party honored Mrs Nickell at her home.
Superintendent Dr. Errol Frank of Southwest Local School District joins CARE on a July 10 19 mission to observe relief work in Sudan. The trip highlights CARE’s drought relief program and educational support efforts for affected communities.
The City held a special meeting on Thursday July 11 to seek proposals for trash service with a decision unlikely to ease tensions. Council members Leo Rolfes Sr Ruth Glasscock and others argued over landfill operations and Board of Health rulings while planning to study proposals at the July 16 regular meeting and weighing EPA conflicts. Executive session followed the vote.
Elizabethtown Hall will be available to the Headstart program on a one year term. A boosters meeting is planned for Sheer Jeland at 7 50 pm to support the effort.
Whitewater Township residents may collect cheese on Saturday July 20 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Whitewater Township Center located on Dry Fork Road.
Event at the Harrison Community Center features a drawing for honorary bat boy and girl. The program is scheduled for Saturday July 20 1985 at 1 00 p m and includes an afternoon of activities and a reception.
