Area high school jazz groups are invited to participate in the sixth annual Southwestern Ohio High School Jazz Festival on Sunday March 11 at Miami University. Fifteen performances, clinics, and an evening concert with the Miami University 2:00 Jazz Ensemble and guest soloists are planned.
At the January 5 1984 meeting the Hamilton County Park District elected Richard H Durrell as President for 1984. Durrell a geology professor at the University of Cincinnati chairs conservation groups and has long guided land acquisition. Nolan W Carson and Paul W Christenen Jr were elected vice presidents of the board for 1984.
Lester E. Heitger, professor of accounting at Indiana University, is named the 1983 Stan Pressler Faculty Fellow. He used the fellowship to develop generalized cost based pricing models and studied management accounting at operating firms across several states. The award emphasizes teaching and research components. Heitger joined IU in 1972 and holds degrees from Ohio State, Denver, and Michigan State. He and wife Rozella live in Bloomington with children Danny and Christy.
Indiana state senator Johnny Nugent joins Michael Rogers as co sponsor of Senate Bill 145 to cut sales tax to four percent and income tax to 2.5 percent once the rainy day fund reaches seven percent of general fund revenues. The proposal depends on future fiscal health and would not require immediate cuts.
An ACLS course will be held at Bethesda North Hospital on February 18 and 19 from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. It trains physicians nurses and paramedics with BLS in sudden cardiac death monitoring dysrhythmia recognition and post resuscitation care. Registration ends January 23 with fees 25 50 and 175 and includes textbook materials.
