Will it Be Batons or Rifles Majorette Question Stirs Meeting

Kathy Spitzmiller attended the Citizen's Advisory Council on January 10 to represent the Harrison Wildcat Marching Kittens, a baton group for girls kindergarten to sixth grade sponsored by Harrison Elementary PTA. She noted parent concerns about future paths after elementary school and faulted Junior High School band director Mr Parrott for discouraging majorettes in favor of a rifle corps. The group estimates about 100 baton students with ample talent for junior high. Southwest Local School District Superintendent Mr Frank proposed a meeting with Parrott to discuss the issue. The advisory bylaws were reviewed, chairman Karen Everett stepped down to speak, and Kay Bowling shared a draft of a Citizen's Opinion Survey due in March. Next meeting is February 14, 1983.
