Southwest district braces for budget cuts and attendance reward
In 1983 the Southwest School district faces state fund cuts of nine percent while foundation payments were lowered by about $100,000 after a late enrollment adjustment. The district celebrates near 20 percent perfect attendance, borrowing ideas from former superintendent Paul Kuhn for attendance buttons, and notes that revised Ohio minimum standards will not significantly affect its curriculum.

Principal Mr Jostworth rewarded top students with a free Where Red Fern Grows movie for high grades and improvement.

Mt Hope Sewing and Garden Club held a covered dish anniversary dinner at Jessie Wilson’s home last Thursday. A March meeting will be at Marie Duckworth’s home with Charlotte as hostess. Eugene Bachman honored Mike Bachman with a birthday dinner including Somer Renee, Dale Bachman and Leona Bachman. Lincoln Literary Club plans an anniversary dinner at the Crosby United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall at 12 noon. Leona Bachman visited Anna Lucy of Shandon and Johnny Brehm of St Charles the same day.
