Change and Standards Drive Southwest Schools Policy

At the December 13 1983 Board of Education meeting a summary of the Ohio Minimum Standards was discussed with focus on improving the Southwest Schools educational process. National reports urge revision of math and science curricula and highlight the need for quality teachers. The Southwest Board upgraded graduation requirements to 18 credits, with Harrison High School requiring 20, while core subjects gain emphasis. Real improvement depends on commitment by educators, parents, students and the community, not just policy.
