The Sunman Dearborn school board met December 3 1970 at 7 PM in the administration building. They learned through the December 1 tax hearing that the rate may fall below 4.90 due to assessed valuation. The board authorized Byfield II to study converting two high schools to elementary status and to inspect Bright and Guilford elementary schools for safety. They plan to sell the old Pella School by sealed bids on January 11 1971.

Santa's arrival in Harrison last Saturday drew the biggest parade crowd yet, with a chilly but festive day for kids and adults. Parade coordinators Mrs. Allen Loos and Mrs. John Minges led the effort, opening the Christmas season for local merchants. Santa will station at the North Pole corner Harrison Ave and State Street each Saturday before Christmas from 2 to 4 PM for visits and candy.

Army Specialist 5 Williams Awarded Bronze Star Medal
Army Specialist 5 David C. Williams received the Bronze Star Medal with V device for heroism in Vietnam. While with the 7th Armored Squadron of the 17th Air Cavalry near Pleiku, he exposed himself to heavy fire to aid wounded teammates and administered emergency medical treatment. Williams, a Harrison High School alum, entered the Army in 1968 and later lived with his wife Donna in Anniston, Alabama.
