Christmas Boutique at Looker House Honors 18th Century Style
The first annual Christmas Boutique by the Village Historical Society and Shaker Farms Garden Club opened December 4 and 5 at the Looker House in Harrison Ohio. Visitors enjoyed apple cider and ginger bread from Betty Washington's recipe as potpourri and herbs perfumed the home. The event highlighted period plants and Othniel Looker era artifacts with Gene Woelfel and Donna Hughes present to discuss history and landscaping plans. Reconstruction of the Looker House began in 1972 on Marvin Road after the original house was saved from burning and dismantled for storage. A memorial fireplace was funded in part by ten thousand dollars in memory of William Lehrter.
