Hoxworth Blood Center Introduces Semen Storage Service
The University of Cincinnati Medical Center expands its Hoxworth facility to store semen for patients at risk of sterility from illness or treatment. Dr Manley McGill notes initial focus on cancer therapy patients with a 6 to 12 month rollout for infertility cases. Semen is frozen at temperatures near 200 degrees below zero and monitored around the clock, with a minimum storage of about 10 years.
