Semi Hits Train at Route 128 Crossing in Crosby Township
Early Tuesday evening August 3 a semi-tractor trailer struck a train at Route 128 crossing near Fernald Ohio Crosby Township. Driver Cecil Homer Robinson 38 Richmond Indiana was taken to Providence Hospital in ICU for observation. He was thrown clear of the wrecked cab and is reported to be doing fine.

Purses Stolen in Jefferson Street Incident Report
A woman on Jefferson Street was attacked at 6:25 p.m. with a purse snatch. The thief ran through Park Avenue alley and tosses the purse into a garden on North Jefferson Street. The purse contained 500 dollars and was recovered untouched. Patrolman Pearson investigated. Another report notes missing diamond earrings valued at over 425 dollars after a restroom incident at Hausfeld Co. on July 13. Officer Strecker investigated. Further details unclear and under investigation.

Mrs Elidhee Skjoldager retires as Okeana postmaster ending 33 years in the U S postal service. She began as a clerk July 1 1943, became officer in charge December 1972 and postmaster June 1973. She served under several postmasters including Elsie Mildred.
