The scheme targeted five cent items sold for ninety five cents in real money, with arrests split: Danielsville nine in Elbert County three others in Jefferson two in this town.

The four year old daughter of Jesse Esterly of Columbiana died from lockjaw after stepping on rusty nails. The first wound penetrated the foot deeply, and a second puncture worsened the injury. Wounds healed too quickly, leading to blood poisoning and prolonged agony before death.
