In Edwards Mississippi on September 5 James King and George Gaddis, both Black, were arrested for robbing the grave of Hattie Howell. They confessed, saying they stole the body to get arm bones for conjurer work. A mob of about 150 demanded the prisoners. the Sheriff refused.
