George Conners his wife and three small children and Alice Bedoit aged seventeen started a river trip from Broad Way foot. The skiff struck the Big Sandy wharfboat. Bedoit fell in and clutched Emma Conners. They all disappeared and were not recovered as bystanders stood by unable to help.
Washington August 30 Acting Commissioner of Patents issues a detailed ruling clarifying that a trade mark is distinct from an invention and from copyright matter and from matter for print or label. The decision also separates trade mark registration from registrations for the other purposes and distinguishes copyright matter from design matter with reference to the Librarian of Congress.
In Williamsport Pennsylvania on August 31 the local post office was robbed of 3500 dollars worth of stamps. The thief, aided by a blind comic in a buggy, took four stamp packages from the safe while the Postmaster was dining. Four similar packages wrapped in brown paper were substituted.
A detective returned from Monica Wisconsin with Edward Mason and Charles Parker, the two youths who robbed People's Bank of $6,000 on Saturday. The money was recovered except about $150.
