A well dressed, reportedly lunatic or crank man terrorizes near the Indi an avenue school in Toledo for ten days. He attempts to cut hair from children, especially girls with blonde tresses, snipping some locks and causing fear. Searches yield no trace of the intruder. Nearby houses are entered at night by a prowler who steals nothing but loiters where children sleep.
The Ohio Federation of Labor adjourned Friday to meet at Findlay in 1903. E. P. Usher of Toledo was elected president with vice presidents William Newman Cleveland, John Malloy Cambridge, Christopher McConnell East Liverpool, J. A. Fleming Columbus. Michael Goldsmith elected secretary. Walter Cranston Columbus treasurer.
Columbus, O. April 14. Assistant Attorney General Todd held that selling liquor in violation of law does not stop collection of the Dow tax. The Cain law can apply to violations of Winn and Real laws. The reasoning rests on the principle no one can profit from their own wrong.

Mrs James Keller wife of the foreman at P. P. Mast and Co. in Springfield Ohio acted in a moment of temporary insanity and carried her baby to Snyder park where she leapt into the lagoon. Her husband returned and rescued her alive but the child did not survive.
Dayton Ohio hosts the annual reunion of the 34th Ohio infantry also known as the First Ohio Zouaves on Friday October 17. Three companies originated in Cincinnati while one company came from each of Warren and Clermont counties.
In Toledo on October 14 a man calling himself S J Bailey claiming to be manager of the Commercial Insurance Co of Philadelphia defrauded doctors. He appointed them medical examiners for the firm and collected sums from 15 to 100 dollars, leaving many victims in the city.
Caldwell White McKelvey announce the sale of 1200 acres of oil territory leases in the Chester Hill field to the Knickerbocker Oil Company of Philadelphia. The property includes a large number of producing wells and is located near Marietta, Ohio.

Columbus Ohio October 13 Dr C O Probst of the state board of health ruled that a teacher cannot be dismissed because she has tuberculosis. The decision follows a query from a Northern Ohio town where a teacher contracted the disease.
Dayton Ohio October 13 Charles Leo aged 63 a member of the soldiers home died from injuries after leaping from the window of his barracks Leo served in Company C 4th New Jersey Cavalry and his death is reported as a fatal incident at the home

Springfield Ill Oct 14 two men were killed and four fatally injured in a Pawnee mine blast caused by excessive powder. Victims include W V Overcash 30 and Michael Yorja 27. Frank Isaacs 14 breaker boy among the dying, with Peter Green John Burke and George Worley severely hurt others injured. Company sent to Auburn for doctors. Overcash reportedly worth $45000 with no relatives.

He reportedly confessed to Sheriff Spragley. A mob pursues the sheriff and prisoner as they near Tehan a with troops sought from the governor to quell violence.

Altoona Pa Oct 13 An express train crashed into a wrecked freight train near Barre three miles west of Petersburg at 2 am. The passenger engineer and freight brakeman were killed and the passenger fireman badly injured. Fourteen cars derailed, 1420 passengers shaken with minor injuries to most. one woman sprained ankle.

Ed Stricker killed his wife and their young son in a furniture store in Tracy Minnesota, seriously wounded Frank McAllister, and then shot himself. The couple had been separated for two years. McAllister was wounded in the face and in critical condition. L. Harvey, the father-in-law, was present but unharmed.

St. Joseph Missouri October 14 William Coates an 18 year old was Monday convicted of murdering his mother Eliza Coates three months earlier. The youth sought control of the estate and strangled her hoping to avoid detection and become primary beneficiary of the property.
