New York reports Arthur H. Snell acting paying teller at Fulton Bank in Brooklyn was arrested this morning for a shortage totaling $12,000.
New York on October 6 the Chamber of Commerce urged business leaders across parties to unite in pressing Congress to reduce national revenues and align income with necessary government expenditures as nearly as practicable.
In Moanagua Inn on October 6 the eighteen months old child of M. K. Duncan was fed eighteen to twenty strychnine pills this afternoon and died in convulsions a few hours later.
Andrew Jackson, colored, aged eighteen, was out hunting near Elm Grove WaHeEl ine when climbing a fence his gun discharged striking his left breast and causing a fatal wound.
A collision on the Cincinnati Southern road one mile south of Oakvale today wrecked both locomotives and derailed about twenty cars. The incident occurred near Chattanooga Tennessee on October 6. No further details on injuries or cause are provided.
In Little Rock on Oct. 10 a significant robbery of a Pacific Express safe occurred between Little Rock and Northern Texas along the Iron Mountain road. The missing funds are estimated at 30,000 to 40,000 dollars. Messenger J. B. Owens, long trusted in the service, ismissing after a detour through Dallas St Louis and Illinois. Detectives suspect Owens acted in collusion with an agent or clerk who knew the combination.
Boston youths form The Tabor Club on Tabor street Highlands front room with a box labeled For members only. Five members, averaging fifteen, are jailed with another in Montreal. they allegedly carried out at least twenty five robberies in Roxbury and vicinity. Items stolen include a diamond revolvers cash cigars and leading bag. Police say only part of their crimes are known and the club had extensive libraries and funds.
Ned Hathway, an aeronaut, made a successful descent from a height of one thousand feet in a hot air balloon at Ga. Bespire Indiana on October 9. The new parachute, twenty eight feet in diameter, expands before use and is released by a lever tied to the rope. The parachute reportedly reduces risk and the landing was described as a magnificent sight with the canopy resembling an inverted rose. Hathway landed and stood.
Louis Sorrecco an Italian worker at Louis Cella's soda water manufactory on Grant Street was instantly killed in a gas charging explosion this afternoon. Cella was knocked down but not seriously injured as the one story building suffered heavy damage.
In New York on October 10, Judge Cowing sentenced the O Connor family father mother and sons to sixteen years in State prison for robbing and assaulting Englishwoman Mary E Harwood in their East Forty seventh street rooms.
